Presentation, discussion and consider and take action regarding an ordinance levying taxes for the Town of Addison, Texas and fixing and adopting the tax rate for the Town on all taxable property for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2014 and ending September 30, 2015; providing for a penalty and interest for delinquent taxes; declaring an emergency and providing an effective date. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Council approve the property tax rate ordinance for the 2014-15 fiscal year. This year's proposed tax rate exceeds the effective tax rate. The vote on the ordinance, resolution, or order setting the tax rate must be a record vote. Per Dallas County Tax Assessor, a motion to adopt the ordinance, resolution, or order must be made in the following form: “I move that the property tax rate be increased by the adoption of a tax rate of $0.5618 on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation, which is effectively a 4.75 percent increase in the tax rate. Accordingly, I further move adoption of Ordinance No. 014-35 that adopts the tax rate of $0.5618, and move to approve separately a tax rate of $.3437 that will impose the amount of taxes needed to fund maintenance and operations expenses for the next year, and a tax rate of $0.2181 that will be used to pay debt service.”
