EVERYBODY.IT IS JUST AFTER SEVEN O'CLOCK, AND WE ARE HERE FOR OUR FALL 2023 TOWN MEETING, AND I'D LIKE TO WELCOME EVERYBODY HERE.
WE HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A SPARSE CROWD BECAUSE WE DO HAVE SOME COMPETITION TONIGHT WITH, UH, SOME BASEBALL GAME OR SOMETHING GOING ON.
I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS, BUT SOMETHING ABOUT THE WORLD SERIES, I GUESS, IS A BIG DEAL.
AND, UH, SO, SO I'M, I'M VERY EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO, UH, MOVE US THROUGH THIS MEETING AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE TODAY WITH THE, AND STILL BRINGING YOU ALL THE INFORMATION THAT YOU'RE, THAT YOU CAME HERE TO GET.
AND I'LL ENCOURAGE MY COUNCIL MEMBERS TO ALSO BE CONCISE IN THEIR PRESENTATIONS.
I'M LOOKING AT EACH ONE OF YOU THERE, BUT THANK YOU FOR COMING OUT TONIGHT.
IT IS OUR, IT'S OUR PLEASURE TO BE HERE TO HOST YOU ALL FOR THE TOWN MEETING AND TO SHARE THE INFORMATION WITH YOU THAT, THAT WE THINK IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO HEAR.
AND ALSO TO TAKE YOUR QUESTIONS AT THE END SO WE CAN GIVE YOU THE ANSWERS THAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR.
I'M THE MAYOR OF ADDISON, AND I HAVE BEEN SINCE FOR ABOUT THE LAST FIVE AND A HALF MONTHS, AND IT'S BEEN MY PRIVILEGE TO BE HERE FOR THAT.
WE HAVE A, UH, NICE LITTLE GROUP THAT WE WORK WITH HERE CALLED THE, UH, CITY COUNCIL.
I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE SOME OF THEM.

WE HAPPENED TO SHOW UP AT THE ATHLETIC CLUB ONE AFTERNOON, AND THERE WAS A GUY WITH A CAMERA THERE, MAYBE IT WAS A GIRL WITH A CAMERA.
AND THAT WORKED OUT PRETTY WELL FOR US.
WE GOT OUR PICTURE TAKEN AND THERE WE ARE.
AND, UH, AND THE INTERESTING THING TO ME ABOUT THAT IS YOU HAD THIS GROUP OF EIGHT PEOPLE THAT THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE CITY MANAGER AND FIVE OUT OF THOSE EIGHT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN IN THEIR ROLE HERE LESS THAN ONE YEAR.
SO IT'S A PRETTY NEW GROUP AND IT'S AN EXCITING GROUP TO WORK WITH, AND I'M VERY HONORED AND PROUD TO WORK WITH THEM.
AND, UH, WE'D HAVE A NICE TIME TOGETHER.
AND SOMETIMES WE DISAGREE ABOUT SOME THINGS AND WE HAVE SOME GOOD DISCUSSIONS AND THAT'S HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO WORK.
AND I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE THEM TO YOU.

HE'S, HE LISTENS AND HE'S, HE'S VERY MUCH ABOUT ADDISON AND HE'S JUST JUMPED RIGHT IN.
OF COURSE, HE MOVED TO TOWN BEFORE HE EVEN STARTED WORKING HERE, AND HE'S DONE A GREAT JOB REALLY BRINGING THIS TEAM TOGETHER.
SO I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE DAVID GAINES.
AND DAVID IS, IS IN THE NUMBER ONE SLOT, BUT HE HAS A POWERHOUSE PAIR OF DEPUTY CITY MANAGERS.
SO WE HAVE MS. PASSION HAYES, THERE SHE IS, STAND OF PASSION.
AND ASHLEY SCHROER, ASHLEY, SHE AND THESE TWO LADIES ARE AMAZING.

AND WE ALL KNOW THAT ADDISON COULD NOT GET A LOT DONE AROUND HERE WITHOUT THE MANY, MANY VOLUNTEERS THAT WE HAVE THAT SERVE THE TOWN.AND IF YOU HAVE SERVED, IF YOU'RE CURRENTLY SERVING THE TOWN AS A VOLUNTEER, OR IF YOU'VE SERVED THE TOWN AS A VOLUNTEER IN THE PAST, WOULD YOU PLEASE RISE SO WE CAN RECOGNIZE YOU AND ACKNOWLEDGE YOU? IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO HAVE THE VOLUNTEERS AND THIS COMMUNITY SPIRIT THAT WE HAVE HERE IN ADDISON.

SO LET'S TALK ABOUT THE BUDGET AND HOW WE GET TO THE BUDGET.
THE BUDGET'S ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS THAT THE COUNCIL DOES EVERY YEAR.
THIS PAST APRIL, THE COUNCIL HAD A STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION, AND THEY DO, WE DO THIS EVERY YEAR.
EVERY YEAR THE COUNCIL MEETS AND THEY HAVE A RETREAT, AND THEY TALK ABOUT WHAT DO WE WANT ADDISON TO BE GOING FORWARD? WHAT ARE WE NOW, WHAT DO WE WANT ADDISON TO BE GOING FORWARD? SO WE HAVE A RETREAT, A A, A STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION, AND THIS IS A REALLY IMPORTANT THING FOR US TO DO SO THAT WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE.
'CAUSE WHAT HAPPENS FROM THAT IS THAT THEY, THE STAFF TAKES THAT INFORMATION THAT WE, THEY GET FROM THAT STRATEGIC PLANNING, AND THAT'S WHAT THEY USE WHEN THEY START TO PUT THEIR BUDGET TOGETHER.
THAT'S GONNA BE THE PROPOSED BUDGET THAT THE COUNCIL IS GOING TO SEE LATER ON IN THE YEAR.
SO THAT'S A REALLY IMPORTANT PART OF THAT PROCESS.
AND YOU CAN SEE THE COUNCIL VISION THAT WAS, UH, THAT WAS BROUGHT FORWARD IN THAT, UH, IN THAT, UM, UH, STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION.
AND I'LL READ THAT FOR YOU JUST IN CASE YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR READERS ON OR SOMETHING.
UH, IT SAYS, THE TOWN OF ADDISON IS THE BENCHMARK FOR A DIVERSE, VIBRANT, INNOVATIVE, AND CONNECTED COMMUNITY.
OUR UNIQUE PLACES AND EXPERIENCES ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF OUR RESIDENTS, BUSINESSES, WORKERS AND VISITORS, AND MAKE ADDISON THE PLACE TO LIVE, WORK, AND VISIT.
AND THAT IS THE VISION FOR THE TOWN.
WE'RE GOING TO HAVE ANOTHER ONE COMING UP IN JANUARY.
AS I'VE SAID, WE HAVE A, A COUNCIL THAT'S MOSTLY NEW IN THEIR ROLES, AND SO WE'LL BE, WE'LL BE MEETING IN JANUARY FOR A RETREAT TO, TO DO THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN SO WE CAN LOOK AT THE TOWN AND SEE WHERE ARE WE NOW AND, AND COMPARED TO A YEAR AGO, DO WE HAVE A DIFFERENT VISION? IS IT THE SAME? DOES IT LINE UP? WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH THAT? SO WE'LL, WE'LL, WE'LL BEAT AGAIN.
WE'LL HAVE THIS STRATEGIC PLANNING RETREAT.
AND IF I SAY RETREAT, IT, IT'S NOT AS FUN AS IT SOUNDS.
IT'S NOT LIKE, SAY ANYTHING FANCY, WE GO LOCK UP IN A ROOM.
SO IT'S REALLY KINDA LIKE A LOCKDOWN, BUT IT'S, IT'S, IT'S A REALLY, IT'S A GOOD, IT'S A GOOD EXERCISE FOR US TO GO THROUGH.
SO WE'LL GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN AS A, AS A, UH, AS A COUNCIL, AS A NEW COUNCIL WORKING TOGETHER.
SO WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT.
SO WITH THE BUDGET, GIVE YOU SOME HIGHLIGHTS HERE OF OUR 2024 BUDGET THAT WE JUST COMPLETED.
SO THAT STARTED OFF OUR, OUR OCTOBER, OCTOBER 1ST WAS THE BE BEGINNING OF OUR FISCAL YEAR COMING, UH, THAT WE'RE CURRENTLY IN NOW.
AND SO SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS FROM THAT THERE, THERE ARE OUR PROPERTY PROPERTY VALUE.
THE TAXABLE PROPERTY VALUE WITHIN THE TOWN IS $6.16 BILLION, AND THAT'S AN INCREASE OF 9.4% FROM LAST YEAR.
AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE AVERAGE TAXABLE HOME IN ADDISON, THE AVERAGE VALUE IS $426,498.
AS YOU CAN SEE, IT'S AN INCREASE OF 11.4%.
SO YOU'VE ALL SEEN YOUR VALUES GO UP IN YOUR HOMES, AND WE LOVE SEEING THAT.
WE DON'T ALWAYS LOVE THAT THE TAXES GO UP WITH THAT, BUT THE VALUE IS THERE AND, AND, AND WE'VE BEEN CONSISTENTLY SEEING THAT GROWTH OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS.
THE TAX RATE THAT IS ESTABLISHED FOR THIS, THE, UH, CURRENT FISCAL YEAR IS, UH, SIX, UH, 60.98 CENTS PER $100 OF YOUR EVALUATION.
AND THAT IS THE EXACT SAME TAX RATE AS WE HAD IN LAST YEAR'S BUDGET.
THE GENERAL FUND BUDGET THIS YEAR IS $48 MILLION ROUGHLY.
AND THE GENERAL BUDGET IS BASICALLY WHAT ALL THE, THE TYPICAL SERVICES YOU WOULD SEE WITHIN THE TOWN HAPPEN.
POLICE, FIRE PARKS, RECREATION, THINGS LIKE THAT.
THAT'S WHERE, WHERE MOST OF THOSE ITEMS COMES OUT OF IS FROM THE GENERAL FUND.
AND THEN WE HAVE, UH, $51.5 MILLION IS ALLOCATED FOR CAPITAL PROJECT EXPENDITURE.
SO WE HAVE, WE HAVE A LOT OF WORK THAT WE NEED TO GET DONE, SO WE'LL HAVE A LOT OF CAPITAL PROJECTS THAT ARE COMING UP.
SO WE, THAT, THAT'S KIND OF A HIGHLIGHT OF WHAT OUR BUDGET LOOKS LIKE FOR THIS YEAR.
THEN WHEN WE LOOK AT THE TAX RATE, YOU REMEMBER WHEN YOU GET YOUR PROPERTY TAX BILL, IT BREAKS DOWN, THERE'S SOME, THERE'S FIVE DIFFERENT LIGHT ITEMS, LINE ITEMS THERE AS TO WHAT MAKES UP YOUR TOTAL TAX RATE.
AND SO, YOU KNOW, THEY'VE STAYED RELATIVELY FLAT OVER THE LAST QUITE A FEW YEARS, EVEN IN SPITE OF THE, THE DEBT THAT WE, THAT'S BEEN ISSUED FROM THE 2019, UH, BOND ITEMS THAT WE HAD APPROVED.
IF YOU REMEMBER IN 2019, WE HAD THE BOND ELECTION AND THERE WAS ROUGHLY ABOUT $70 MILLION WORTH OF, UH, BOND ITEMS THAT WERE APPROVED THROUGH THAT.
AND IF YOU REMEMBER, AND YOU MAY NOT, BUT YOU KNOW, IN ALL THE,

THE INFORMATION THAT WENT OUT ABOUT THAT, THERE'S, THEY, THEY TELL YOU WHAT THE POTENTIAL IMPACT ON THE PROPERTY TAX RATE COULD BE, AND AT THE TIME THEY TOLD US THAT IT COULD IMPACT THE TAX RATE BY AS MUCH AS 10 CENTS.AND AS YOU CAN SEE, IT DID NOT DO THAT.
SO, SO IT'S BEEN RELATIVELY FLAT, BUT OF COURSE WE STILL GET THE, THE REVENUES COMING IN BECAUSE THE VALUES ARE GOING UP.
SO THE REVENUES STILL THERE, BUT THE TAX RATE HAS NOT BEEN IMPACTED THE WAY IT POTENTIALLY COULD HAVE.
SO WE'LL ALWAYS SEE THAT WHENEVER WE HAVE A BOND, WE'LL SEE WHAT'S IF, IF THINGS HAPPEN THIS WAY, WHAT'S THE WORST THAT THAT TAX RATE COULD DO FOR US? OKAY, WHAT COULD THAT LOOK LIKE FOR US? SO, SO WE'VE, WE'VE SEEN A FLAT TAX RATE OVERALL, AND THE PROPERTY TAX RATE IS ABOUT 30% OF THE TOTAL BILL.
NOW, THE COMBINED TAX RATE, IF YOU LOOK AT ALL FIVE OF THOSE LINE ITEMS THAT ARE ON YOUR TAX BILL IS JUST, UH, IS, IS AT $2 17 CENTS PER $100 OF YOUR VALUATION.
NOW, THE PROPERTY TAX BASE, IF YOU LOOK AT HOW IT'S A DISTRIBUTED, YOU CAN SEE THAT 70% OF THE, UH, THE TAXES COME FROM COMMERCIAL, 15% COME FROM, UH, BUSINESS PERSONAL PROPERTY, AND THEN ONLY 15% COMES FROM RESIDENTIAL.
SO 85% IS COMING FROM, UH, NON-RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY TAXES.
AND THEN THE, UH, THE, THE, UH, TAX PORTION FROM THE GENERAL FUND REVENUE, THE RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY TAX PORTION IS EIGHT, MAKES UP 8% OF THAT, OF THAT BUDGET.
SO WE'VE GOT 92% THAT COMES FROM EVERYTHING ELSE, ALL OF THE REVENUES BESIDES RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY TAX.
AND SO THE PRO THE RESIDENT, THE, THE, THE OTHER TAX, THE TAX THAT COME FROM COMMERCIAL PROPERTY TAX, MIXED BEVERAGE TAX, SALES TAX AND THE FRAN FRANCHISE FEES, THOSE ARE THE, THAT'S WHERE THE OTHER REVENUE COMES FROM.
AND SPEAKING OF PROPERTY TAXES, WE HAVE AN ELECTION THAT'S GOING ON RIGHT NOW.
EARLY VOTING HAS ALREADY STARTED FOR THE NOVEMBER 7TH ELECTION, AND I ENCOURAGE YOU TO GET OUT AND VOTE.
AND THIS IS A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT ELECTION.
THERE'S NOBODY RUNNING FOR OFFICE OR ANYTHING, BUT IT'S JUST ABOUT 14 DIFFERENT PROPOSITIONS FOR, UM, FOR THE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS.
AND SO I ENCOURAGE YOU TO, TO GO AND, AND EDUCATE YOURSELF AND LEARN ABOUT THOSE BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT, YOU KNOW, IT MIGHT BE EASY TO JUST SAY, WELL, I'LL JUST GO VOTE YES FOR ALL OF THEM, AND YOU MIGHT WANNA DO THAT, BUT I ENCOURAGE YOU TO GET INFORMED WITH THAT.
AND, AND IF YOU GO AND READ THE, THE PROPOSITIONS, THEY DON'T MAKE A LOT OF SENSE JUST READING THEM.
SO I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO WHAT I DO IS I GO TO THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS WEBSITE AND THEY HAVE A VOTER'S GUIDE THERE THAT I FIND TO BE VERY HELPFUL.
YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THAT AND IT WILL SHOW YOU ALL THE, ALL THE PROPOSITIONS, AND IT WILL EXPLAIN IT IN UNDERSTANDABLE ENGLISH LANGUAGE THAT YOU, THAT YOU CAN READ.
AND IT ALSO GIVE YOU A LIST OF THE PROS AND THE CONS, THE PEOPLE THAT ARE FOR AND THAT ARE AGAINST IT.
THESE ARE THE POINTS THAT THEY'RE MAKING.
UH, SO I ENCOURAGE YOU TO GO VOTE ON THAT.

YOU KNOW, AS YOU CAN SEE, ADDISON'S ONE OF ONLY 11 CITIES IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF TEXAS THAT HAS THE AAA, UH, MOODY'S AND S AND P.
SO THAT'S A REALLY BIG DEAL WHEN IT COMES FOR US TO GO AND, AND GET BONDS AND ISSUE BONDS.
WE CAN GET 'EM AT THE BEST PRICE, BEST SITUATION THAT WE, THAT THAT'S AVAILABLE OUT THERE.

BACK IN 1975, ADDISON RESIDENTS VOTED TO ALLOW LIQUOR SALES.
OUR POPULATION WAS ABOUT 6,000 RESIDENTS AT THAT TIME.
THAT IMPORTANT DECISION WAS A CATALYST FOR DEVELOPMENT THROUGHOUT TOWN.
TO SUPPORT NEW GROWTH, THE TOWN NEEDED TO INVEST IN ITS STREETS AND INFRASTRUCTURE.
TONIGHT, I'M GONNA WALK, WALK, EXCUSE ME.
I'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT HOW OTHER DECISIONS MADE IN THE LATE SEVENTIES ARE COMING FULL CIRCLE, AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS TIMELINE.
AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS TIMELINE, 53 TO 2003, WITHIN SIX YEARS OF THAT HISTORIC, WITHIN SIX YEARS OF THAT HISTORIC VOTE, ADDISON AGGRESSIVELY BUILT AIRPORT PARKWAY, KELLER SPRINGS ROAD, QUORUM DRIVE, AND MONTFORT ROAD.
DURING THAT SAME TIME, ADDISON ROAD WAS BEING WIDENED, SO IT SHOULD COME AS NO SURPRISE THAT WE ARE HAVING TO REBUILD ALL THESE ROADS ABOUT THE SAME TIME, I WANNA SHARE A SHORT VIDEO HIGHLIGHTING, UH, UPDATES ON THE LARGEST OF THESE PROJECTS, MIDWAY ROAD STAND BY TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES.
PROGRESS IS CONTINUING ON WAY ROAD REVITALIZATION PROJECT, AND WE WANTED TO SHARE SOME MILESTONES ACHIEVED WHAT IS CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS AND WHAT IS TO COME.
THE PROJECT RECENTLY COMPLETED AN IMPORTANT MILESTONE WITH THE SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION OF THE MAIN LANE PAVING FROM SPRING VALLEY TO BELTLINE.
TRAFFIC RETURNED TO BOTH SIDES OF THE STREET IN LATE AUGUST.
WORK CONTINUES ALONG THE SIDES AND MEDIAN AREAS TO COMPLETE THE RAMPS SIDE PATH, TRAIL AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS.
NEW STREETLIGHTS ARE BEING INSTALLED IN THE MEDIAN AREA, AND IRRIGATION SYSTEMS ARE BEING REINSTATED OR REPAIRED TO MAINTAIN LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS THAT WILL BE PLANTED ONCE ALL REMAINING WORK IS COMPLETED.
AND THE SEASON ALLOWS FOR PLANTING NEW WATER.
SANITARY SEWER REMAINS AND STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED ALONG THIS AREA WITH ONLY ADJUSTMENTS TO FINAL GRADING.
REMAINING DEMOLITION, SUBGRADE, STABILIZATION, AND REPAVING ON THE SOUTHBOUND LANES IS COMPLETE, AND TRAFFIC WAS SWITCHED OVER TO THE NEW SOUTHBOUND PAVEMENT IN LATE SEPTEMBER.
THIS ALLOWED THE DEMOLITION DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS, SUBGRADE STABILIZATION AND RE PAVING TO BEGIN.
ALONG THE NORTHBOUND LANES FINAL GRADING, IRRIGATION ADJUSTMENTS AND LANDSCAPING CONTINUE ALONG THE SOUTHBOUND LANES AS UTILITY CONFLICT ADJUSTMENTS ARE COMPLETED ONCE THE NEW NORTHBOUND MAIN LANE PAVEMENT IS COMPLETED.
THE NEXT WORK WILL BE THE DRIVEWAYS, MEDIANS, CROSSOVERS, AND SOME SIDEWALK AREAS.
UPON COMPLETION OF THESE ELEMENTS, TRAFFIC CAN RETURN TO BOTH SIDES OF THE STREET.
THERE WILL STILL BE PERIODIC LANE CLOSURES AS OTHER AMENITIES ARE BEING CONSTRUCTED, BUT THIS WILL BE ANOTHER IMPORTANT MILESTONE FOR

THE PROJECT, AS TRAFFIC WILL BE REINSTATED TO BOTH NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND LANES.NEW STREETLIGHTS WILL BE INSTALLED IN THE MEDIAN'S AREA, AND NEW TRAFFIC SIGNALS WILL BE INSTALLED AT THE DOOLEY, BOYINGTON AND LINDBERGH INTERSECTIONS.
NEW WATER, SANITARY SEWER REMAINS AND STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED ALONG THIS AREA WITH ONLY ADJUSTMENTS TO FINAL GRADING REMAINING.
THE FINAL SEGMENT OF THE MAIN LANE PAVING WILL BE BETWEEN BELTLINE AND LINDBERGH, AND WILL ENCOMPASS THE AREA WHERE THE NEW DART SILVER LINE PROJECT IS BEING CONSTRUCTED.
SINCE THE MAIN COMPONENTS OF THE DART SILVER LINE CONSTRUCTION ARE COMPLETE IN THIS AREA, DEMOLITION AND PAVING IS ANTICIPATED TO MOVE RELATIVELY QUICKLY.
THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW 16 INCH WATER MAIN UNDER THE WHEELER BRIDGE AND ACROSS THE DART RAILROAD RIGHT OF WAY IS INSTALLED AND FINAL TESTING IS BEING COMPLETED.
THIS LINE WAS INSTALLED BY BORING THROUGH THE ROCK STRATA JUST OVER 25 FEET BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE ROAD.
WITH THE COMPLETION OF THIS SECTION OF WATERLINE, THE WATER SYSTEM FOR THE TOWN WILL HAVE AN IMPORTANT DISTRIBUTION CONNECTION REINSTATED.
EVEN THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS DELAYS THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT, THE TOTAL PROJECT IS STILL ON SCHEDULE TO BE COMPLETED AS PLANNED IN SPRING 2024.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE NORTH AND SOUTH ROADS.
THE DESIGN FOR MONTFORT ROAD FROM BELTLINE TO THE CITY LIMITS IS UNDERWAY AND SHOULD WRAP UP AROUND THE MIDDLE OF 2024.
CONSTRUCTION SHOULD BEGIN IN THE SUMMER OF 2024 AND TAKE APPROXIMATELY 12 MONTHS TO COMPLETE.
IN ADDITION TO THE UP UPSIZING THE UTILITIES, WE WILL BE WIDENING THE MEDIAN, ALMOST DOUBLING THE SIDEWALK WITH THE EIGHT FEET AND ADDING SIX FOOT PARKWAY BUFFERS.
THE OTHER NORTH-SOUTH ROADWAY IS QUORUM DRIVE.
UH, COUNCIL MEMBER CIO WILL GIVE US AN UPDATE ON, ON THIS PROJECT AND THE EXCITING ART WALK COMPONENTS ASSOCIATED WITH IT.
ROADWAYS AREN'T THE ONLY PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS UNDERWAY.
THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER PROJECTS IN PROGRESS THAT IMPACT OUR NEIGHBORHOODS, SO I WANTED TO GIVE YOU A QUICK UPDATE ON A COUPLE OF THOSE AS WELL.
THE RAWHIDE CREEK BASIN DRAINAGE PROJECT IN THE LAY LOCKS NEIGHBORHOOD IS ALMOST COMPLETE.
THIS UNDERTAKING INCLUDED DRAINAGE AND ADA IMPROVEMENTS ALONG SEVERAL RESIDENTIAL STREETS.
THOSE DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS ALSO RAN ALONG A LINEAR PARK AREA AND CONNECTED TO AN EXISTING STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM AT MARSH LANE.
ALL THE MAJOR WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED, INCLUDING THE INSTALLATION OF A STORM WATER TRAP SYSTEM THAT WILL HELP MANAGE THE FLOW OF WATER INTO THE MARSH LANE DRAINAGE SYSTEM.

THE PROJECT IS SLATED TO WRAP UP AROUND THE END OF THE YEAR.

THE TOWN HAS SINCE ISSUED A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL FOR THE PROJECT THAT INCLUDES A VARIETY OF OPTIONS FOR THE POND LINER.
ONCE THIS PROCESS IS, IS COMPLETED, COUNCIL WILL BE ASKED TO CONSIDER A CONTRACT WITH THE SELECTED CONTRACTOR.

DEPUTY MAYOR PRO TEM NIA GQ MENTIONED THE REDEVELOPMENT OF QUORUM DRIVE EARLIER.
LIKE WITH OTHER INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS, WE ARE REPLACING THE ROAD AND THE UTILITIES, BUT THIS PROJECT HAS HAD INTERESTING TWISTS.

THIS MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT WILL OFFER ALL THE AMENITIES THAT EMPLOYERS THAT WE WANT TO COME TO ADDISON AND THEIR EMPLOYEES WILL SEEK IN A MODERN WORK ENVIRONMENT.
IT WILL ALSO PROVIDE ATTRACTIONS FOR CURRENT RESIDENTS AND EXPAND OUR TAX BASE.

IT PROVIDES EASY ACCESS TO MAJOR BUSINESS CENTERS.
A LOT OF BUSINESSES LOCATE NEAR GENERAL AVIATION AIRPORTS TO EASILY MOVE PEOPLE, GOODS AND SERVICES AND MARKETS ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND AROUND THE WORLD.
THESE BUSINESSES BRING, OBVIOUSLY, JOBS, LOCAL INVESTMENT AND SIGNIFICANT SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC ACTIVITY WITH THEM.
THIS SYNERGY IS WHY ADDISON AIRPORT IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT ASSET TO OUR TOWN.

THE FAA IS FUNDING 90% OF THE TAXIWAY AND THE ROADWAY PROJECT, THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S AVIATION DIVISION.

IT'S UNSIGHTLY AND IT'S, IT'S BECOME A HEALTH ISSUE.

THIS IS A BRAND NEW PROGRAM FOR US.
WE'RE HIRING THOSE POSITIONS RIGHT NOW, AND THEN WE'LL BE ROLLING OUT A PROGRAM TO COUNCIL IN THE NEXT SIX MONTHS OR SO, SO WE CAN KICK THAT OFF.

I WAS JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IS THERE GONNA BE ANY INITIATIVES COMING UP FOR LIKE SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS SUCH AS MYSELF? I'VE BEEN IN THE DALLAS AREA SINCE ABOUT 2019, LIVED IN THE NORTH TEXAS AREA, ADDISON CARROLLTON SINCE I'VE BEEN OUT HERE.
YOU ALL ARE DOING A LOT OF GOOD THINGS IN THE AREA, SO THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL THAT YOU ARE DOING.
I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THERE ARE ANY INITIATIVE FOR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS.
'CAUSE I'M AT THAT POINT IN MY LIFE WHERE I AM PLANNING ON STARTING A FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO REMAIN IN THIS AREA, BUT, YOU KNOW, JUST TRYING TO SEE WHAT THE CITY HAS TO OFFER.
SO, SO YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT? UH, UH, RIGHT NEXT TO YOU.
